Sony ZV-1 vs Sony ZV-E10: read noise comparison

Input-referred read noise at base ISO: Sony ZV-1 1.9 e⁻ (ISO 125), Sony ZV-E10 3.7 e⁻ (ISO 100).

Dual gain: Sony ZV-1 none, Sony ZV-E10 ISO 400.

Sony ZV-1

The Sony ZV-1 was measured at 23 ISO settings from ISO 80 to ISO 12800. Values are Bill Claff's (Photons to Photos) direct measurements from raw files.

At base ISO (125) read noise is 3.34 DN, or 1.9 electrons at the sensor. From ISO 2500 up the camera is effectively ISO-invariant: raising ISO further doesn't meaningfully lower shadow noise. Full well at base ISO is about 8,855 electrons; unity gain is around ISO 70.

Sony ZV-E10

The Sony ZV-E10 was measured at 31 ISO settings from ISO 50 to ISO 51200. Values are Bill Claff's (Photons to Photos) direct measurements from raw files.

At base ISO (100) read noise is 1.49 DN, or 3.7 electrons at the sensor. A second gain (dual gain) kicks in at ISO 400, cutting input-referred read noise by about 1.3 stop. Read noise keeps falling across the measured range, so the camera isn't fully ISO-invariant there. Settings above ISO 32000 don't change analog gain (digital push). Full well at base ISO is about 39,672 electrons; unity gain is around ISO 250.
