FujiFilm GFX 100 II vs Hasselblad X2D-100c: read noise comparison

Input-referred read noise at base ISO: FujiFilm GFX 100 II 2.5 e⁻ (ISO 80), Hasselblad X2D-100c 2.8 e⁻ (ISO 64).

Dual gain: FujiFilm GFX 100 II ISO 500, Hasselblad X2D-100c none.

FujiFilm GFX 100 II

The FujiFilm GFX 100 II was measured at 27 ISO settings from ISO 40 to ISO 102400. Values are Bill Claff's (Photons to Photos) direct measurements from raw files.

At base ISO (80) read noise is 3.07 DN, or 2.5 electrons at the sensor. A second gain (dual gain) kicks in at ISO 500, cutting input-referred read noise by about 1.4 stop. From ISO 1600 up the camera is effectively ISO-invariant: raising ISO further doesn't meaningfully lower shadow noise. Settings above ISO 12800 don't change analog gain (digital push). Full well at base ISO is about 53,625 electrons; unity gain is around ISO 70.

Hasselblad X2D-100c

The Hasselblad X2D-100c was measured at 10 ISO settings from ISO 64 to ISO 25600. Values are Bill Claff's (Photons to Photos) direct measurements from raw files.

At base ISO (64) read noise is 3.97 DN, or 2.8 electrons at the sensor. From ISO 200 up the camera is effectively ISO-invariant: raising ISO further doesn't meaningfully lower shadow noise. Settings above ISO 12800 don't change analog gain (digital push). Full well at base ISO is about 34,682 electrons; unity gain is around ISO 50.
