Canon EOS 750D vs Canon EOS 77D: read noise comparison

Input-referred read noise at base ISO: Canon EOS 750D 10.5 e⁻ (ISO 100), Canon EOS 77D 6.1 e⁻ (ISO 100).

Canon EOS 750D

The Canon EOS 750D was measured at 8 ISO settings from ISO 100 to ISO 12800. Values are Bill Claff's (Photons to Photos) direct measurements from raw files.

At base ISO (100) read noise is 5.82 DN, or 10.5 electrons at the sensor. From ISO 3200 up the camera is effectively ISO-invariant: raising ISO further doesn't meaningfully lower shadow noise. Full well at base ISO is about 25,873 electrons; unity gain is around ISO 180.

Canon EOS 77D

The Canon EOS 77D was measured at 10 ISO settings from ISO 100 to ISO 51200. Values are Bill Claff's (Photons to Photos) direct measurements from raw files.

At base ISO (100) read noise is 2.99 DN, or 6.1 electrons at the sensor. From ISO 6400 up the camera is effectively ISO-invariant: raising ISO further doesn't meaningfully lower shadow noise. Settings above ISO 25600 don't change analog gain (digital push). Full well at base ISO is about 32,464 electrons; unity gain is around ISO 200.
