Sony ZV-1 vs Sony ZV-E10 II: read noise comparison

Input-referred read noise at base ISO: Sony ZV-1 1.9 e⁻ (ISO 125), Sony ZV-E10 II 3.8 e⁻ (ISO 100).

Dual gain: Sony ZV-1 none, Sony ZV-E10 II ISO 320.

Sony ZV-1

The Sony ZV-1 was measured at 23 ISO settings from ISO 80 to ISO 12800. Values are Bill Claff's (Photons to Photos) direct measurements from raw files.

At base ISO (125) read noise is 3.34 DN, or 1.9 electrons at the sensor. From ISO 2500 up the camera is effectively ISO-invariant: raising ISO further doesn't meaningfully lower shadow noise. Full well at base ISO is about 8,855 electrons; unity gain is around ISO 70.

Sony ZV-E10 IITwin

The Sony ZV-E10 II was measured at 34 ISO settings from ISO 50 to ISO 102400. This model has no measurement of its own; the Sony a6700 (ES), which uses the same sensor, is shown.

At base ISO (100) read noise is 1.57 DN, or 3.8 electrons at the sensor. A second gain (dual gain) kicks in at ISO 320, cutting input-referred read noise by about 1.2 stop. From ISO 1600 up the camera is effectively ISO-invariant: raising ISO further doesn't meaningfully lower shadow noise. Settings above ISO 12800 don't change analog gain (digital push). Full well at base ISO is about 38,767 electrons; unity gain is around ISO 240.
