FujiFilm X100V vs FujiFilm X30: read noise comparison
Input-referred read noise at base ISO: FujiFilm X100V 3.9 e⁻ (ISO 160), FujiFilm X30 2.7 e⁻ (ISO 100).
Dual gain: FujiFilm X100V ISO 500, FujiFilm X30 none.
FujiFilm X100V
The FujiFilm X100V was measured at 20 ISO settings from ISO 160 to ISO 12800. Values are Bill Claff's (Photons to Photos) direct measurements from raw files.
At base ISO (160) read noise is 1.83 DN, or 3.9 electrons at the sensor. A second gain (dual gain) kicks in at ISO 500, cutting input-referred read noise by about 1 stop. From ISO 2000 up the camera is effectively ISO-invariant: raising ISO further doesn't meaningfully lower shadow noise. Full well at base ISO is about 33,239 electrons; unity gain is around ISO 340.
FujiFilm X30
The FujiFilm X30 was measured at 14 ISO settings from ISO 100 to ISO 3200. Values are Bill Claff's (Photons to Photos) direct measurements from raw files.
At base ISO (100) read noise is 1.06 DN, or 2.7 electrons at the sensor. From ISO 400 up the camera is effectively ISO-invariant: raising ISO further doesn't meaningfully lower shadow noise. Full well at base ISO is about 9,872 electrons; unity gain is around ISO 260.
